JOURNEY TO WHOLENESS-Reflection For Today

I AM HUMBLE

You will find, as you look back upon your life, that the moments when you rally lived are the moments when you have done things in the spirit of love-Henry Drummond

Humility is one of the nine ingredients in Drummond's  Spectrum of Love."Love vaunteth not itself, it is not puffed up" These ingredients make up the supreme gift-the stature of the perfect man.  C.S.Lewis quotes, "True humility is not thinking less of yourself, it is thinking of yourself less.  This puts it in a perspecctive which all can relate.  The ego builds  up our pride and  faulty perceptions of self-worth. We may sometimes attempt to gain at the expense of others seeking recognition. 

TODAY:  Be aware of your thoughts, feelings and actions Check your ego when it is spiraling out of control.  Grace is available to each of us and we do not have to prove ourselves to be worthy based upon the expectations of others.

                                    I AM KIND
Kindness in words creates confidence.  Kindness in thinking crates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love -Lao Tzu

Acts of kindness radiate from the heart and connects our souls.  Kindness opens our heart making us free from judgment and restrictions. It takes us outside of ourselves and our structured rituals of daily life.  It can be small acts such as a simple smile that may brighen another person's day.  It may be giving a simple compliment to someone who may feel unworthy.  It may be doing a deed whether small or large without being known.  It is simply giving of ourselves that serves as a ripple effect to change the world.

One day while not being present and in  a frantic rush, I lost my driver's license.  My day had  already been pre planned but that  incident changed my course.  In fear, I ruminated about how my identify could be compromised.  Tracking  my steps over and over, it proved futile.  I resolved that I would have to spend hours at to get a replacment resulting in extra time and cost.  Almost two week later, I received mail from a person who I did not know and the letter had somethng in it. It eventually found me after a move.  With curiosity, I opened the letter with a  kind note and my driver's license from a person who lived in another area.  She took the time to write a note and mail the letter.  This was a generous  act of kindness.  I am grateful to Caitlin for this generous act of kindness and wrote a thank you note wishing favor for such compassion.  

TODAY:Kindess is one of the ingredients in Henry Drummond's Spectrum of Love.  Give the gift of kindness to yourself and extend this to others. Show an act without being acknowledged or recognized.  How did this make you feel?

JOURNEY TO WHOLENESS: Reflection For Today                                           
       I AM LOVE

Love is a powerful force and an essential part of the human experiene.  It is a universal language that supersedes differences.  Erich Fromm contends that love is an art just as living is an artThe practice of any art has certain general requirements-discipline, concentration, patience, and supreme concern.  Buscaglia says, "When you love yourself, you will love othersAnd to the depth and extent to which you can love yourself, only to that depth, and extent will you be able to love others."  In the midst of love, everything is transformed. Drumond's ingredients in the spectrum of love includes patience, kindness, generosity, humility, courtesy, unselfishness, good temper, guilessness and sincerity.


TODAY: Treat yourself with love.  Select one of Drummon's ingredients in the spectrum of love.  Define it in detail.  During the course of the day, give yourself this gift as you abide in self-love.  Extend this to others. How do you treat yourself and how does it make you feel?  Does it make a difference in your interaction with others?

JOURNEY TO WHOLENESS-Reflection For Today


I AM DIVINELY INPIRED

While driving one late afternoon, I witnessed the scene of birds getting into symmetric V-shaped flight formation. In awe, my desire was to capture it on my phone but I was in traffic. Two days later, while driving, I witnessed the same scene. I wondered how many people really noticed both of these awesome scenes. Why was I experiencing these synchronistic events and what is the message? How do they know the timng, their roles and positions? It was so perfect. There was no struggle as to who would lead the flight. There was no struggle, compettion or jokeying for first place. It was perfect order and harmony. It was perfect alignment ,divine order and unity in perfection. Animals and fowl naturally follow their instincts and inner knowing. They all were working for the "good of the whole" while we, as humans, often lose sight of in our daily life encounters. I find that when my mind is in a struggle mode trying to make things happen, the result is usually chaos. It is then that I remind myself to "let go" and listen to my inner voice, quiet whisper or gentle nudge that guides me in the right direction. How do we quiet ourselves, get still, and listen? How do we open ourselves to this divine connection and inspiration? When I get frustrated, I stop and take a view of nature and take some deep breaths. This stills my mind and connect me to my higher self.

TODAY: Allow yurself time today to go out into nature. Take deep breaths and inhale the fresh air. Connect with Mother Earth. If you see a tree or flower, smell it, touch it, feel it, and really experience your connection. So now look around. What do you see? What do you hear? How do you feel? Write down your experiences whle marveling at the beauty in the moment. What did you see that you would have otherwise not noticed?

TODAY: Imagine your best life and feel inspired. Take a small step in becoming your best self. You are the creator and responsible for your happiness. Make self-care and emotional wellness a priority. Travel this path and see what happens. Live inspired!

I AM LIVING WELL IN THE PRESENT MOMENT


Well-being and self-care encompass an art for living to achieve inner peace and balance. It requires an honest self-inventory to assess aspects of ourselves that are out of harmony and to challenge limiting beliefs. Wellness refers to a holistic approach in which body, mind and spirity are integrated in a purposeful manner with a goal of living life more fully (Myers, Sweeney, and Witmer,2000). Spiritual wellness is a persoal matter involving values and beliefs that provide a purpose in our lives. It can be enhanced by engaging in the following:

-Cultivate a spirit of gratitude

-Be mindful of your thoughts

-Eat a healthy diet

-Be still

-Pay attention to your inner guidance

-Commune with nature

-Smile often and find humor in daily life

-Engage in community service

-Express yourself through creative arts (dance, music, pottery. writing, painting/drawing)

-Engage in a program of exercise, walking, yoga, etc.)

TODAY: Implement a personal self-care program to enhance your well being. Choose from the above activities to promote spriitual wellness. How did you feel at the end of the day? Did you have an impact on others around you?

When we are impatient we become restless, irritable and easily annoyed,  We must remain self-aware and become the observer of our thoughts, feelings and behaviors.  Cultivate patience by daily practice to achieve inner peace and ultimately self-mastery.


TODAY:  Practice the art of being patient.  Do not rush, listen without interrupting, think before you react, pay attention to the beauty and wonder of nature which is embedded with lessons of patience.   Experience peace and the gift of transforming yourself and the quality of  your interaction with others.
